KINESIOLOGY, TOUCH FOR HEALTH, and MUSCLE TESTING

Muscle Testing

For many people, kinesiology is "muscle testing". Their most common experience with kinesiology is of having been checked for appropriate nutritional supplements. Actually, kinesiologists use muscle testing as a feedback tool to access information from our body, assess and upgrade its perfonnance. There are many ways of using the art of muscle testing; and I do say "art", like learning how to play the piano. Time and practice are what will give us the expertise and sensitivity that will make us a good pianist... or a good kinesiologist. We use the art of muscle testing to communicate with the body, and that communication allows us to find out, energetically, what is out of balance. Monitoring the muscles' responses enables us to identify priority energy blockages along acupuncture meridians and imbalances causing stress, pain and problems, as well as what will release that stress. The process to restore proper energy circulation is called balancing.

CIearing Emotional Stressors

John Bradshaw states: "Our bodies carry the pain of our wounded inner children". Our unresolved issues will be acted out on physical and/or behavioral levels. Many kinesiology methods also deal with the emotional aspects of our problems and the complex web of factors involved. When monitoring muscles, we go beneath the "conscious" symptom to isolate the "causal" factors in the subconscious, cellular and etheric levels. The answer is always somewhere inside us. By honoring the body's innate wisdom and intelligence, kinesiology enables the body to "clear" itself at its own rate and according to its own priorities, and in doing so, we are facilitating the changes easily and gently. To further understand how kinesiology can clear emotional stressors, let us look at our definition of pain: In acupuncture and in kinesiology, pain is viewed as an imbalance in the body's distribution of energy. When the energy channels known as meridians become blocked, an excess of energy builds up and often results in pain. This pain can be perceived emotionally, mentally, spiritually, as well as physically. These imbalances may result from any number of stressors to the body -- structural, nutritional, environmental, psychological, etc. Based on our life's experiences, almost every physical and/or mental problem has its roots in an emotional cause. These emotions are triggered in response to our perceptions of a situation. How we see our world is based on our belief systems, which are fonned early in life by how others treat us, how we see others treat each other, and how our needs are fulfilled as we grow through our developmental stages. They contain all our family messages about our own personal values and worth, and also permeate all that we do. Kinesiology can shake up these belief systems and thought patterns that stop us from living healthy and happy lives. Through simple fonnatted procedures, and with no unnecessary emotional release, the kinesiologist facilitating the process assists the body to reprogram itself and align the whole Being with a goal set for each session.
